What we see in software and cloud prospecting

In B2B software, the problem is rarely the product. It's access: reaching the person who owns the budget in a market where every decision-maker gets dozens of pitches a week. Across Siete's engagements with software companies, SaaS platforms and cloud partners in Uruguay, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil, three starting points keep coming up:

  • Referral-driven growth that stalls. The company has happy clients, but the pipeline depends on someone recommending it.
  • A saturated ecosystem. AWS and other hyperscaler partners compete against dozens of partners with the same credential.
  • A narrow ICP. Niche products or solutions like ERP, where the buying window is short and you need to arrive right when the company is changing systems.

Reference benchmarks

  • Qualified meetings per month: 8–20, median of 12 (case data). The highest-performing engagements run several markets or business lines in parallel.
  • Meeting quality rated by the client: 82% on average (case data), ranging from 70% to 90%.
  • Positive reply rate: 2–4% of contacts reached (estimate). It goes up in well-defined niches and down in markets where decision-makers are heavily prospected.
  • Time to first meeting: 3–4 weeks from launch (estimate). This includes ICP definition, list building and first touches.
  • Meetings that turn into opportunities: 20–30% (estimate). It depends on prior qualification and on the maturity of the client's sales process.

What worked

  • One ICP per business line or market. When a company sells more than one solution, a single campaign for everything dilutes the message. Separating ICP, list and message by line was the change that added the most meetings.
  • Going beyond your own ecosystem. For cloud partners, prospecting accounts that don't yet work with the hyperscaler, or that have an established vendor but unsolved problems, opened conversations the vendor channel never generated.
  • Buying triggers in segmentation. For long-cycle solutions like ERP, segmenting by change signals (growth, new locations, migrations) worked better than segmenting by company size alone.
  • Coordinated email + LinkedIn. Combining channels around the same message thread generated more replies than either one alone.
  • Qualifying before booking. The engagements with the best perceived quality filtered by budget, role and need before handing the meeting to the sales team.

Three typical situations

  • A cloud partner in the Southern Cone went from having no structured lead generation to sustaining 8+ qualified meetings a month and closing deals directly attributable to outbound.
  • A corporate learning platform activated four LATAM markets in parallel and reached 20 qualified meetings a month, with a sales process that already existed but lacked volume.
  • A niche software company with a narrow audience sustained 10+ meetings a month with a 90% quality rating thanks to very precise segmentation.

Common mistakes

  • Leading with features in the first message instead of the business problem.
  • Using the same sequence for the CTO and the CFO.
  • Measuring success by meeting volume without tracking how many become opportunities.
  • Stopping before month three, just when message learning starts to pay off.
