What's happening

In Brazil, B2B software competes with strong domestic vendors, and demand is no longer just in São Paulo: it is growing in the Santa Catarina and Minas Gerais hubs.

We know what you're up against.
And how to solve it.

The challenges every team reports, and how we turn them into pipeline.

▪ The challenges of selling

If you sell software in Brazil, you rarely walk into an empty market. Almost every category already has a domestic incumbent, whether an ERP like TOTVS or Senior or a management SaaS like Omie or Conta Azul, that invoices in reais with an NFS-e, supports customers in Portuguese and closes tickets through the account manager's WhatsApp. When your product shows up billing in dollars, the customer's finance team sees FX conversion, IOF and withholding taxes on the overseas payment before they see a single feature. The operations director can love the demo and the controller can still block the purchase.

The second problem is geography. Everyone prospects Faria Lima and Berrini, so the São Paulo decision-maker gets the same cadence from several vendors every week. Meanwhile, mid-sized companies in Joinville, Blumenau, Florianópolis, Belo Horizonte and inland São Paulo state have budget, far less sales pressure and a relationship-driven buying culture: they want to talk to someone who knows their sector, exchange a few messages before the meeting and hear the name of a similar customer. A translated email sequence does not get past that filter.

▪ How Siete helps you

Before prospecting, we define your ICP with you by region and company size, and map who actually decides in each account: the user who feels the pain, the IT lead who validates the integration and the finance person who approves the contract. The message answers upfront the objections the local incumbent uses against you, such as local invoicing, Portuguese support and implementation time. Our SDRs prospect in native Portuguese, on Brasília time, through email, LinkedIn and phone, and qualify every lead before it reaches your team. With Asasul, a Brazilian technology company, this staff augmentation model replaced one-off efforts with 4+ qualified meetings per month, with 100% of leads qualified before the handoff to sales.

How do you compete with TOTVS and other Brazilian vendors when selling B2B software in Brazil?

By not fighting where they are strongest: local presence, local invoicing and installed base. Look for accounts where the incumbent left open wounds, like endless implementations, expensive customizations, modules nobody uses or slow post-sale support. Those signals show up in job postings, user complaints and conversations with the people who run the system every day. Prospecting starts with the user who lives with the problem, who was not the one who signed with the incumbent, and moves up to the decision-maker from there.

Should a SaaS company bill in reais and issue a Brazilian invoice to sell in Brazil?

To sell to mid-sized and large companies, almost always. Buying a SaaS billed from abroad forces the customer to close an FX transaction and deal with taxes and withholdings on the payment, and how those apply to cloud software still generates rulings requests at the Receita Federal. That brings the tax team and the controller into the deal from day one. With a local entity or a partner that invoices in reais with an NFS-e, the purchase follows the normal vendor process. If you do not have that yet, explain how billing works in the first conversation so the objection does not surface at the final stage.

Where should you prospect for B2B software in Brazil besides São Paulo?

Santa Catarina has software hubs in Florianópolis, Joinville and Blumenau, surrounded by manufacturing and services companies that buy technology. Belo Horizonte combines a startup ecosystem with Minas Gerais's industrial and mining base, and Curitiba adds mid-sized logistics and automotive companies. In those cities, decision-makers get fewer cold approaches than in São Paulo and value hearing about a customer from their own region. The right choice depends on your vertical: software for manufacturers finds more accounts in the South and in Minas than on Faria Lima.
